We made a film to answer one of life’s greatest questions: Am I happy?

Not just "do I laugh sometimes" or "am I successful on paper" — but am I fulfilled? Do I wake up excited? Do I feel aligned, purposeful, alive?

It’s a strange thing to ask when life looks good from the outside. I had it all. Money. A loving family. Great friends. Achievements stacked like trophies. But deep down, I felt like something was missing. And when you can’t shake that internal itch — when the exterior wins don’t translate into inner peace — that’s when the real work begins.

So I did something a little crazy. On a whim, the day after my birthday, I told my wife I was flying from Cleveland to Salt Lake City. I bought a motorcycle and started riding it back across the country, solo. Off-road. Through the mountains. No GPS plan. No team. Just a deep sense that if I stayed still any longer, I’d suffocate.

I was searching for something I couldn’t explain.

About six days in, I was broken. I was ready to give up. My body was exhausted, my mind frayed. The trip that was supposed to set me free had started to feel like a mistake. And that’s when I met Thomas.

Thomas was pulling his wife in a trailer, who was dying of cancer, through the same trails I wanted to quit on. And he was joyful. Present. Peaceful. Happy.

That moment changed me.

It made me wonder if happiness had less to do with more — more money, more success, more validation — and everything to do with connection, meaning, and how we relate to life itself.

Over the next few years, I turned that question into a quest. I sat with scientists, philosophers, everyday people, and spiritual seekers. I asked all of them the same question:

What exactly is happiness? Should we chase it? Let it happen? Is it out there or inside of us?

What I found surprised me. The answer isn’t a prescription. It’s an invitation. To wake up to your life. To stop outsourcing your joy to future milestones. To redefine what freedom actually feels like.

This film is my story, but it’s also your story. Because every one of us, whether we admit it or not, wants to feel fully alive.
